The Scene of the Quraysh Chiefs
A feature within · Mount Abū Qubays
Significance
Abū Qubays overlooked the Kaʿba, and Quraysh used to climb it on many occasions. There the Quraysh chiefs gathered to view the people of the Kaʿba, and the sīra records that they saw the moon split from atop it, then denied it afterwards. Today most of the mountain has been removed in the Saudi expansions of the Ḥaram; a palace, and later a hotel, stand on its summit, and it is no longer visible as it once was.
