The First Mountain Created

Significance

It appears in the reports of the Makkans that Abū Qubays was the first mountain Allah placed on the earth, and that the Black Stone was preserved in it during the Flood, then brought out when Ibrāhīm ﷵ built the Kaʿba. These reports are among the isrāʾīliyyāt cited by some historians; no sound marfūʿ ḥadīth confirms them, and they should be treated with caution. The mountain remains a great landmark for its position overlooking the Sacred Mosque.
