The Splitting of the Moon

Significance

Anas ibn Mālik ﭬ reported that the people of Makka asked the Prophet ﷺ to show them a sign, so he showed them the splitting of the moon — twice. The sources record that the two halves appeared on either side of Mount Abū Qubays, the mountain that overlooks the Kaʿba from the east. Allah revealed regarding this: {The Hour has drawn near and the moon has been split. And if they see a sign they turn away and say: continuous magic} [al-Qamar: 1–2]. It is among the most prominent physical miracles of the Prophet ﷺ.
