Significance

The sources record that the Prophet ﷺ took refuge in some of Thabīr's ravines during moments of his Hijra and daʿwa. Some historians further mention that Ibrāhīm ﷵ passed by it with Ismāʿīl, and that a spot in it hosted one of the Jāhiliyya sacrifices — but these are mawqūf reports and isrāʾīliyyāt, with no sound marfūʿ ḥadīth; one must be cautious about attaching them to the Sharīʿa. Thabīr remains a geographic landmark of the Ḥaram.
