The Farming Treaty
A feature within · The Fortresses of Khaybar
Significance
When the conquest was complete, the Jews of Khaybar asked the Prophet ﷺ to leave them on their land, working it for half of its produce. He ﷺ agreed and said: 'We keep you on this as long as we wish.' This is one of the earliest muzāraʿa (crop-sharing) contracts in Islam, and a source of its legislation.
