The Delegation of the Christians of Najrān

Significance

A Christian delegation from Najrān came to the Prophet ﷺ in the tenth year of the Hijra, and he debated with them the matter of ʿĪsā ﷵ. When they contended, he called them to mubāhala — mutual invocation, that Allah cast His curse upon the liars. The Prophet ﷺ came out with ʿAli, Fāṭima, al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn ﭺ. When the delegation saw the light of prophethood upon them, they turned back and refused the mubāhala, and made peace with him on the jizya. The Mosque of al-Mubāhala was built on the site of that meeting.
