The Verse of Mubāhala

Significance

Allah revealed regarding this incident: {Whoever argues with you about it after knowledge has come to you, say: Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then let us pray earnestly and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars} [Āl ʿImrān: 61]. The verse is a foundation, in the view of Ahl al-Sunna, for the virtue of the Prophet's ﷺ family, and in his willingness to enter mubāhala — and his opponents' refusal — a proof of his prophethood.
