The Naming: "The Cloud"

Significance

It is narrated that a cloud shaded the Prophet ﷺ at this spot one day, and so the mosque became known as al-Ghamāma — 'the Cloud.' The report is known among the historians of Madinah such as al-Samhūdī and al-Anṣārī and is among the cited reasons for the name.
