The Prostration of Gratitude

A feature within · Masjid as-Sajda

Significance

Some historians mention that the cause of this long sajda was a glad tiding to the Prophet ﷺ of his intercession for his Umma on the Day of Rising, so he prostrated in thanks. The site is a few hundred metres north of the Prophet's Mosque. The mosque is small and standing today; it is known as the Mosque of the Sajda, the Mosque of Shukr, or the Mosque of Abū Dharr.
