The Spring of al-Suqyā

Significance

The place is called "al-Suqyā" (the Watering-place) because it was a stop where travellers drew water. Here the Prophet ﷺ fixed his gaze on Madīna, and from here provision of water begins for those heading to the Two Sanctuaries. He ﷺ found its water sweet, and the sources record that water was brought from it to Madīna. The site today lies to the west of the Prophet's Mosque, and some of its features are still known.
