Ibn Masʿūd's ﭬ Recitation Before the Prophet ﷺ

Significance

Al-Bukhārī narrated from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd ﭬ: The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "Recite to me." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, shall I recite to you when it was revealed to you?" He said, "I love to hear it from another." So I recited to him Sūrat al-Nisāʾ until I reached: {How then, when We bring forth from every Umma a witness and We bring you as a witness against these?} [al-Nisāʾ: 41]. He said, "That is enough for now." I looked at him — his eyes were flowing with tears. This took place in the Mosque of Banū Ẓafar, east of Madīna.
