Salʿ in the Sīra
A feature within · Mount Salʿ
Significance
Scarcely a ḥadīth of the trials and of duʿāʾ for Madīna is free of a mention of Mount Salʿ — it is among the great landmarks of Madīna. The Prophet ﷺ described Madīna: 'It is Ṭayba; it drives out impurity as the bellows drives out iron's dross.' He ﷺ described a trial saying it 'comes out from the courtyard of Salʿ,' and prayed for the people of Madīna at many places near it. The mountain runs half a kilometre west of the Prophet's Mosque as a stony ridge.
