ʿUthmān's ﭬ Outfitting of the Army

A feature within · The Site of Tabūk

Significance

The Prophet ﷺ urged the people to spend, so ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān ﭬ outfitted a third of the army: nine hundred camels, a hundred horses, and ten thousand dinars, which he poured into the Prophet's ﷺ lap. The Prophet ﷺ turned the coins with his hand and said: "Nothing ʿUthmān does after today will harm him," twice. The Muhājirūn and Anṣār competed in giving: Abū Bakr ﭬ brought all his wealth, ʿUmar ﭬ half of his, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf ﭬ four thousand.
