"The Full Moon Has Risen Over Us"

A feature within · Thaniyyat al-Wadāʿ

Significance

From Thaniyat al-Wadāʿ the people of Madīna caught sight of the Prophet ﷺ arriving on his Hijra, and they came out to receive him with joy and praise; the young women and children raised their voices: "The full moon has risen over us from the passes of Farewell — thanks are due upon us so long as a caller calls to Allah." It was the first public welcome he ﷺ received in his adopted city. Note: the popular view links it to his arrival on the Hijra, though some scholars hold it was on his return from the Tabūk campaign.
