The Ṣabā Wind and the Victory of al-Aḥzāb

A feature within · The Trench Line

Significance

When the trial pressed heavily on the Muslims and ten thousand of the aḥzāb besieged them, Allah sent a wind against them and hosts they did not see; it overturned their cooking pots and pulled up their tents, and they withdrew defeated. Allah said: {O you who believe, remember the favour of Allah upon you when hosts came upon you and We sent against them a wind and hosts you did not see} [al-Aḥzāb: 9]. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I was granted victory by the ṣabā (east wind), and ʿĀd were destroyed by the dabūr (west wind).' In this battle he ﷺ said: 'Now we shall attack them and they shall not attack us.'
