The Rock and the Prophet's ﷺ Blows

Significance

A great rock appeared in the trench that defeated the Muslims. The Prophet ﷺ came, took the pick, and struck it the first blow; a flash lit up all between the two lava-fields of Madīna, and he said: 'Allāhu akbar — I have been given the keys of al-Shām; by Allah, I now see its red palaces.' He struck again and said: 'I have been given the keys of Persia — by Allah, I see the white palace of al-Madāʾin.' He struck a third time and said: 'I have been given the keys of Yemen — by Allah, I see the gates of Ṣanʿāʾ from where I stand.' These are among his physical prophetic signs and his tidings of the Muslim conquests.
