The Tree of Iḥrām

Significance

Al-Bukhārī narrated from Ibn ʿUmar ﭬ that the Prophet ﷺ used to pray in the mosque of Dhū al-Ḥulayfa by the tree, and from there enter iḥrām for ḥajj or ʿumra. The original tree withered, but the place is still known, and the great mosque of Dhū al-Ḥulayfa was built upon it. From this spot the rites of the people of Madīna begin.
