1. Marching from conquered Makkah — Shawwal 8 AH
Two weeks after the Conquest of Makkah, the Prophet ﷺ learned that the tribes of Hawazin and Thaqif had gathered a vast army near al-Ṭāʾif to fight the Muslims. He set out from Makkah with 12,000 warriors — the largest army he had ever led: 10,000 Muhajirun and Ansar, and 2,000 of the newly-converted Quraysh. Their numbers pleased them.
