Significance

The Prophet ﷺ and Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq ﭬ entered this cave when they left Makka on the Hijra to Madīna, and stayed three days for the pursuit of Quraysh — who had set a bounty of a hundred she-camels on each of their heads — to subside. The cave is in Mount Thawr south of Makka, about 750 metres high, and the ascent is difficult.
