The Service of ʿAbd Allāh and Asmāʾ ﭯ
A feature within · Cave of Thawr
Significance
ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Bakr ﭬ would spend the night with them in the cave, learning Quraysh's news by day and bringing word of their plots at night. His sister Asmāʾ Dhāt al-Niṭāqayn ﭯ brought them food; she is called 'Two-Belt' because she tore her sash in two — one piece to tie the food-bag, the other for her waist. ʿĀmir ibn Fuhayra would shepherd the flocks and drive them back at day's end so their tracks erased ʿAbd Allāh's footprints.
