{The Second of Two, When They Were in the Cave}

Significance

Abū Bakr ﭬ said to the Prophet ﷺ as the feet of the pagans appeared at the mouth of the cave: "O Messenger of Allah, if one of them looked down at his feet, he would see us." He ﷺ replied: "What do you think, Abū Bakr, of two whose Third is Allah?" Allah revealed regarding this: {If you do not aid him — Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out, the second of two, when they were in the cave, and he said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us"} [al-Tawba: 40].
