The Moment of Change

Significance

The Prophet ﷺ was leading the Ẓuhr prayer here (then known as the Mosque of Banū Salama) when the verse was revealed: {We have certainly seen the turning of your face toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qibla with which you will be pleased.} He turned ﷺ mid-prayer toward the Kaʿba, and the Muslims turned with him.
