The Foundation Stones
A feature within · Quba Mosque
Significance
The first mosque built in Islam. The Prophet ﷺ and his companions laid its stones by hand in the first days of the Hijra. He stayed here four days before continuing to Madinah, and afterward would visit it every Saturday, riding or walking.
The recommended practice
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever purifies himself at home then comes to Masjid Qubāʾ and prays therein — it is for him like the reward of an ʿumra." Recommended: perform ablution at one's lodging, then come to Qubāʾ and pray two units.
