Ḥāṭib's ﭬ Letter
A feature within · Rawḍat Khākh
Significance
When the Prophet ﷺ prepared the army for the conquest of Makka, he concealed the plan from Quraysh. Ḥāṭib ibn Abī Baltaʿa ﭬ — a veteran of Badr — wrote a letter to Quraysh informing them of the Prophet's ﷺ march, and gave it to a woman of Muzayna. Jibrīl informed the Prophet ﷺ, who sent ʿAli, al-Zubayr, and al-Miqdād ﭺ and said: "Go until you reach Rawḍat Khākh; there you will find a woman traveller with a letter — take it from her."
