"The Leaders Are of Quraysh"

Significance

One of the Anṣār said: "A leader from us and a leader from you." Abū Bakr ﭬ replied with the authentic prophetic ḥadīth: "The leaders are of Quraysh," then said: "We are the leaders and you are the ministers." This ḥadīth is a foundation, in the view of the majority of Ahl al-Sunna, for the requirement of Qurayshī lineage in the caliphate. The site today lies within the enclosure of the Prophet's Mosque on its western side, absorbed into the Saudi expansion.
